                 About

Smell the Roses was Prgrm2ed Perception's first solo exhibition, embracing that it’s not just who we become that makes us great, but also how we get there, through all of our beautiful to the darn-right-ugly experiences.

Ella and Lizzie creatively explored the lives of women from across the world including: Adwoa Aboa, Eartha Kitt, Rebecca Lolosoli and Peggy Guggenheim. Expressing onto canvas through mixed media, the equal importance of every layer of their life stories.

"From the bud, Through the thorns, To the blossom"

In today's world where there's an increase in conversations about mental health and self-perception, we wanted this exhibition to inspire self-reflection and appreciation towards the rejection of 'perfect life ideologies' which impose itself, particularly through social media. And give power to the knowledge that

None of us are just made up of the pretty stuff!

                 About

Prgrm2ed Perception's Modern <Day> Dream event won the 'Pitch to the Mix' competition in association with Livity. Resulting in free access to Rich Mix's main space (East London's independent arts centre).

This event created an immersive experience between reality and the subconscious through the visual language of print, sculpture, spray paint and moving image, combined with the sonic language of Piksel's soundscape and live musicians.

Inspired by every person's ability to dream, hope and imagine, we wanted to see if it was possible to curate a space to replicate the sensations of suspension into the Hypnagogic state of sleep, into a modern day dream dimension of colour, pattern and beats. Leaving everyone vulnerable to their own interpreted versions of reality.

                 About

This exhibition (happened to) feature the artwork of 8 female artists as they creatively explored their responses to our theme 'Genderalisation' through photography, film and sculpture. Exhibited were many interesting and well researched areas where gender is concerned including gender in the film, advertising, beauty products and branding industries, gender in relationships, becoming a parent and the drag lifestyle,

This event made a beautiful point that gender issues are everywhere and the reality is that inequality exists for both men and women and we need to stop gen'd'eralising. Our society should not be defined by who we are but more so the actions we choose to take and through such an event we enabled the elderly to ask questions about drag lifestyles and students to share their worries for their creative futures in industry.

                 About

Just after the EU referendum and during the controversial presidential campaign in the USA, political tension were live and we were surrounded. We brought together a range of different artists, from different backgrounds, upbringing, political ideology and practice, to get a broad sense of what political power meant to young artists.

The music and art channelled emotions and personal experience into their creative responses, each welcoming everyone into their individual worlds, igniting beautifully open and honest conversations between different generations, occupations and cultures.

This was an incredibly special evening which was an example in itself in the power of communication. In this case our power came in the form of art and all it encompasses and produces; expression, sharing and listening.

                 About

Our first (and second) exhibition was held at the amazing musical charity and opportunity hive in Brixton - Raw Material. An area which at the time, was about to be heavily hit by gentrification which effectively removed many local businesses and residents with unattainable rising prices. This exhibition was a direct response to the negligent developments going on across London, ripping into the homes and cultures of areas for deviant purposes predominantly involving money and social cleansing with government guidance.

We wanted to gather our creative links and use our art forms to express and share our experiences, opinions and emotions surrounding this topic through art and music. We wanted to show that gentrification affects us all. Even us as young creatives, from different backgrounds, cultures and social classes are each being affected and are shamed as we watch the effect on those around us.

An extremely passionate and connecting event which saw residents from across London coming together in conversation, emotion and experience. Such a simple and every day occurrence hindered by fear, judgment, ignorance, discomfort and inequality across our society, causing this to be detrimentally overlooked. Talking, sharing and listening is all it takes for progression to start.

And suddenly it was clear. Prgrm2ed Perception will go on.
